Daily health screening at the Health and Safety Center during all three days of the Big Iron Farm Show.
The North Dakota State University College of Health Professions is offering cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure screenings during the Big Iron Farm Show. Fourth-year pharmacy students precepted by pharmacists will perform the screenings. All screenings take less than 10 minutes and no fasting is necessary! This year, the cholesterol screening will include LDL and triglyceride levels in addition to total cholesterol and HDL. This will provide participants with a more comprehensive picture of their heart health.
Cholesterol screenings: $15
Blood sugar screenings: $5
Blood pressure checks are free of cost.
Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM), in conjunction with the local FM Sertoma group, will be conducting free hearing screenings. Children and adults are welcome. They will also be distributing free information about hearing loss and free earplugs.
The N.D. Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) Rural Services are available to farmers, ranchers and people living in the rural community who are experiencing difficulties doing their job because of a permanent injury, illness or impairment. During the health screenings, free information will be available on services that may be provided through DVR.
The Essentia Health Stroke Program is dedicated to providing the community with the best stroke education, prevention and treatment. Essentia Health’s partnership with the Big Iron Farm Show is an excellent opportunity for participants to receive valuable information about the warning signs of stroke and how to reduce the risk of stroke.
The United Blood Services of the Dakotas will be collecting blood donations from 10:00 am – 3:30 pm on September 13th, from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm on September 14th, and from 10:00 am – 1:45 pm on September 15th.
