Effects of Tile Drainage
How does tile drainage effect the physical and chemical properties of soil? The Big Iron Demonstration Field was tiled in 2012. Now, five years later, come to the Demonstration Field each afternoon during the 2017 Big Iron Show to see the impacts “close up”. Soil pits will be dug to expose the tile drain pipes, and areas between tiles, to compare the effects of tile drainage on soils. NDSU Extension engineering, agronomy and soil specialists will be on hand to discuss the impacts of tile drainage on soils and crop production.
