USDA Undersecretary for Farm Production and Conservation Bill Northey will participate in a forum at the 2018 Big Iron Farm Show in West Fargo, North Dakota. Northey fills the third highest ranking position at USDA, overseeing the Farm Service Agency, Risk Management Agency and Natural Resources Conservation Service. Northey is a fourth-generation farmer who previously served as the Iowa secretary of agriculture. Northey is also a past president of the National Corn Growers Association.

Northey will be featured in a forum hosted by the Red River Farm Network in its building Tuesday, September 11. The forum will begin at 10:30 AM.

“We are excited to have Undersecretary Bill Northey join us at Big Iron,” said Don Wick, president, Red River Farm Network. “With a new farm bill and the $12 billion assistance package on the horizon, there will be no shortage of issues to discuss.”

With his role at USDA, Northey will have a key role in the implementation of the farm bill and the logistics surrounding the market facilitation program, which is part of the Administration’s new trade tariff relief measure.

In addition to Northey, the Red River Farm Network Issues and Events Center will feature daily market outlook seminars. The speakers include industry-leading market analysts Andy Shissler, Bryan Doherty, Tommy Grisafi, Ray Grabanski, Mike North, Elaine Kub, DuWayne Bosse, Jim Emter and Frayne Olson. Additional forums are also scheduled. More details are available at www.rrfn.com.
